The study aimed to examine the levels of achievement motivation and sports behavior among football players in Salah Al-Din Governorate clubs and to investigate their relationship with athletic achievement. The research population consisted of 350 players from several football clubs in the governorate.
The findings showed that achievement motivation plays a significant role in improving athletic performance, while positive sports behavior, particularly emotional self-control, is associated with greater participation and higher achievement. The study also found that intrinsic motivation is stronger than extrinsic motivation among the players.
The researcher recommended incorporating Psychological Skills Training (PST) into club training programs and adopting both financial and non-financial incentive systems to enhance players' motivation and performance.
