This research aims to identify the effect of slow-motion video feedback on correcting mechanical performance and improving retention of the breaststroke pass skill in basketball among middle school students. The researcher adopted an experimental design with two groups (experimental and control) and administered pre- and post-tests.
The experimental group underwent a training program based on slow-motion video feedback, while the control group studied using the traditional method. The results showed a significant improvement in the performance of the experimental group, as their mechanical errors decreased from (18.6 ± 3.2) in the pre-test to (7.4 ± 1.8) in the post-test, compared to the control group, whose errors decreased from (18.2 ± 3.1) to (14.8 ± 2.7).
The results also showed a clear improvement in skill retention among the experimental group, with the success rate increasing from 42.5% ± 8.3% to 84.7% ± 5.6%, compared to a limited improvement in the control group from 43.0% ± 7.9% to 61.2% ± 6.4%.
These results indicate the effectiveness of using slow-motion video feedback in improving mechanical performance and enhancing skill retention compared to the traditional method, thus confirming the importance of employing modern technologies in learning sports skills.
