Abstract

The study aims to examine the relationship between psychological stress and the performance level of the spike skill in volleyball among youth players by measuring stress levels and analyzing their impact on execution accuracy and power. The researchers employed a descriptive correlational methodology, selecting a sample of 10 players from premier league clubs in Baghdad (under 20 years old). Data were collected using a standardized psychological stress scale, along with performance evaluation forms assessing factors such as accuracy of direction, strike power, execution speed, and balance during performance The statistical analysis revealed a strong negative correlation (r = -0.72, p = 0.001) between psychological stress levels and spike performance, indicating that increased stress is associated with decreased skill execution efficiency Based on these findings, the study recommends conducting periodic assessments to measure psychological stress and its impact on performance. Additionally, incorporating specialized psychological training programs to mitigate stress levels and enhance skill stability is advised. Furthermore, implementing training strategies that simulate competitive conditions is recommended to better prepare players for high-pressure situations, ultimately improving the quality of spike execution in competitive matches.
