Abstract

This study aimed to identify arm motor response speed and its relationship to the performance of some shooting types among players of the University of Kufa basketball team. Arm movement reaction speed is considered a key factor for success in games because it allows players to use their skills quickly and effectively, especially under defensive pressure. Researchers used a descriptive research method, combining questionnaires and correlation analysis. The study included 12 players from the Kufa University basketball team in the 2023/24 academic year. Four players (33.33%) were selected for the pilot study. The main tests included arm movement reaction speed and throwing performance, including jump shots, layups, and shots within 30 seconds. The results showed a positive correlation between arm movement reaction speed and performance on certain shooting types. This study recommends developing training programs to improve arm movement reaction speed and throwing accuracy, thereby enhancing the overall competitive level of basketball players.
