The Impact of Resistance Training Using Weights on Developing Speed Endurance and Achievement Levels Among 400m Runners

Introduction: Resistance training using weights is of paramount importance in the field of athletic conditioning. It serves as a fundamental pillar for achieving elite performance levels across various sports disciplines. Such training is essential for developing speed endurance, which directly translates into enhanced competitive performance (achievement). Furthermore, weight training is a key methodology through which coaches can optimize physical capabilities and improve results in the 400-meter dash. Research Problem: Through his professional observations as an athletics instructor, the researcher identified a performance gap: runners were unable to maintain their peak velocity throughout the entire race at a level that rivals international and regional standards. This decline in performance towards the end of the race indicates a deficiency in speed endurance, necessitating an investigation into specialized training solutions Research Objectives: To design a weight-based training program aimed at developing speed endurance. To identify the impact of these weight-based exercises on the development of speed endurance and the overall 400m race achievement Methodology (Population and Sample): Choosing the research sample is a critical step in data collection. The research population consisted of senior athletes from six (6) athletics clubs in Kirkuk Governorate, totaling (18) runners. The researcher purposefully selected an experimental group from Al-Hawija Club (Senior Category) for the 2024/2025 sports season.
