Abstract

The present study aimed to construct a psychological counseling program designed to develop self-compassion and reduce fear of failure among athletes. This program was developed based on an identified need within the sample and tailored to align with the pre-test results. Additionally, the study sought to assess the levels of both psychological variables and the nature of the relationship between them. The researcher utilized the experimental approach. The research population consisted of (44) athletes from the Nineveh Governorate gymnastics and parkour teams. The sample was divided into two groups, experimental and control, with 14 athletes assigned to each group, while 16 athletes were excluded to be utilized for pilot testing and reliability purposes. Data analysis was conducted using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), employing the following statistical tools: arithmetic mean, standard deviation, t-test, correlation coefficient, and percentage. The findings revealed low levels of self-compassion coupled with high levels of fear of failure among the athletes, indicating a significant inverse relationship between the two variables. Furthermore, the results demonstrated a significant superiority of the experimental group over the control group in the post-test scores for both self-compassion and fear of failure.
