The Effect of Hypoxic Training on Certain Physiological Indicators, Physical, and Skill Abilities of Youth Boxers

Objectives: The Study aims to design specialized training protocols using the hypoxic method (Hypoxia) tailored to the physical and technical performance nature of youth boxers. Furthermore, it seeks to identify the impact of these hypoxic exercises on developing certain physical and skill abilities among the target group.
Methodology and Field Procedures: The researcher employed the experimental method with a pre-test/post-test equivalent groups design. The study was conducted on a purposive sample of youth boxers from training centers in Dhi Qar Governorate for the (2024-2025) sports season. The sample was distributed as follows:( Pilot Study Sample: (6) boxers to ensure the validity of tests, exercises, and equipment, Main Experimental Sample: (14) boxers from the Nasiriyah Training Center).
The training program spanned (12) weeks, consisting of (3) weekly sessions (totaling 36 sessions), The sessions integrated boxing-specific physical and technical performance with the use of the Training Mask 2.0 to simulate hypoxic conditions.
Results: The results demonstrated that scientifically regulated hypoxic training significantly contributed to the development of all research variables (physical abilities, technical skills, and physiological indicators) for the experimental group compared to the control group. Additionally, the tests designed by the researcher successfully achieved their objective in measuring the targeted physical and skill variables.
Recommendations: The researcher recommends the integration of hypoxic training programs (using regulated masks) into the training curricula for youth boxers due to their proven effectiveness in enhancing physiological efficiency and physical-technical
capacities. It is essential to utilize these exercises to improve the boxer's ability to maintain the pace and frequency of punches (straight, hooks, and uppercuts) during the final rounds, as the research showed a significant improvement in motor frequency over a (90-second) duration.
