Abstract

This study aims to identify the impact of using skill-based exercises designed according to the aerobic energy system on the digital achievement level (time) of junior swimmers in freestyle swimming competitions. The researcher used the experimental method with a single-group design, as it fits the nature of the problem. The research sample included a group of junior swimmers. The research sample included a group of junior swimmers; the proposed skill exercises were applied regularly to the experimental group within their training sessions, while the control group continued with their traditional program. The results revealed statistically significant differences between the pre- and post-tests in favor of the experimental group’s post-tests. Furthermore, it was found that aerobic-oriented skill exercises effectively contributed to increasing stroke and pull efficiency, leading to a reduction in total time and a significant improvement in digital achievement compared to the control group. The study concluded that integrating technical skills with physiological (aerobic) aspects in a single exercise is a successful training method for developing junior long- and middle-distance swimmers, helping to build a solid physical and technical foundation.
