Abstract

Kayaking is a competitive sport that relies on measuring performance by time, also known as a timed event. This research aims to identify the effect of resistance training with added weights on the 1000m timed event for kayakers under 18 years of age. To achieve its objectives, the sample selection must be appropriate to the nature of the problem, as the sample represents the research population or the model upon which the researcher conducts their work. The research population was defined as the 12 members of the national kayak team, selected purposively for the 2025 training season. Based on this, the research sample was selected from the national youth team, under 18 years of age, after excluding two players who participated in a pilot study. The final sample size was 10 players, divided into two groups using double numbering: an experimental group and a control group, each group consisting of five players. The most prominent results showed statistically significant differences between the pre- and post-tests for the experimental group, favoring the post-test, in all physical variables and performance levels. The researcher recommended using additional weights in varying proportions to achieve the optimal ratio with a significant impact on enhancing and improving performance levels
