Abstract

The researcher dealt in his research with freedom of will and used the descriptive approach with the comparative method. The research community included students of government and private schools in the city of Mosul, numbering 8,000, with 6,000 students in government schools and 2,000 students in private schools. The research sample consisted of 480 students, with (225) students from government schools and (225) students from private schools, who were chosen in the manner and the objectives of the research were to identify the degree of freedom of will for middle school students in government and private schools and to identify the level of variation between them. The researcher assumed that there were no differences in the degree of freedom of will between students in government and private schools, and the statistical package SPSS was used in processing the data. The researcher also concluded that there was a variation in the level of freedom of will for the lesson Physical education among these schools, and there are significant differences between these schools, in favor of private school students. The researcher recommended conducting a study to determine the relationship between the degree of free will and other variables among middle school students, and developing guidance programs for middle school students to develop free will.
