The Effect of the Dunn & Dunn Model on Improving the Technical Performance of the Javelin Throw for Students

Abstract

The research aims to: prepare instructional plans according to the Dunn & Dunn model in improving the technical performance of the javelin throw for students, identify the effect of the Dunn & Dunn model in improving the technical performance of the javelin throw for students, compare the post-test results between the two research groups in improving the technical performance of the javelin throw for students, The researchers used the experimental method with a two-group design, experimental and control. The research population was determined from the first-year students in the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences / Tikrit University for the academic year (2023/2024), whose number reached (304) students distributed into six sections (B, C, D, Z, E, W), After conducting the lottery, section (E) was chosen to represent the experimental group that studied according to the Dunn & Dunn model, and section (W) to represent the control group that studied by the traditional method, and each group was assigned (20) students. Instructional plans were designed to reach results that serve the objectives of the research. The educational program began on Sunday (10/3/2024) and continued until Wednesday (24/4/2024), with two lessons per week for each group, and all lessons were implemented in the sports field of Tikrit University, Then the researchers conducted the pre- and post-tests of technical performance on the two groups, to measure the effect of the Dunn & Dunn model compared to the traditional method, and processed the data using the statistical program (SPSS), The researchers reached a number of conclusions, the most important of which are: the experimental group that studied according to the Dunn & Dunn model outperformed the control group that studied by the traditional method in the post-test results of the technical performance of the javelin throw; there was a positive effect of the instructional plans implemented by the experimental group in improving the technical performance of the javelin throw for students.
