This study aimed to design a preventive exercise program and examine its effectiveness in reducing the incidence of neck strain among office employees. The research problem arises from prolonged computer use, poor working postures, and insufficient physical activity, which increase muscular tension in the neck and shoulder region and lead to a high prevalence of cervical discomfort.
The researcher adopted an experimental approach using a one-group pre–posttest design. A preventive exercise program consisting of stretching, strengthening, and mobility exercises for the neck and shoulder muscles was implemented. The program was designed to be simple and applicable within the workplace without the need for special equipment and was conducted for a specified period with several weekly sessions.
The results showed statistically significant improvements in favor of the post-test, including reduced pain intensity, improved cervical range of motion, and decreased muscular tension among participants. These findings confirm the effectiveness of the proposed preventive program in reducing neck strain and enhancing employees’ occupational health.
The study recommends implementing preventive exercise programs in public and private institutions and promoting health awareness about the importance of physical activity during prolonged desk work.
